The AROVCC (Arkansas Ovarian Cancer Coalition) put together something called 'Artists For Ovaries' in which artists donate art, the art gets auctioned, and then the money goes towards the cause of preventing, treating, and curing ovarian cancer.

This is my submission. I was glad for the opportunity, I'm happy for the chance to contribute even though I don't have much money of my own to donate. PLUS it's REALLY good business. XD

Uhm... the only rules were NO PINK (they wanted to be distinct from the pink ribbon breast cancer thing, you know) and that you had to have the color teal (blue/green) in there somewhere, even if it was just a dot.

When I started this I had no idea where it was going. I didn't do any preliminary drawing, I just started painting. That being said, I think this is one of the best pieces I've done yet, of the unplanned, un-pre-drawn variety. I like my use of shape and color. Some of the technique isn't my best, but overall I really like it.

The thing I love most about doing these kinds of paintings is that I continue to learn about watercolor and how to use it. It continues to surprise me. :3

Aaaaand on a little side note, this character doesn't have a story, but she does have a name: Helicia.
