Sooooo.... this is the beginnings of the Tarot deck I'm creating.

When I first started getting into Tarot, I had no idea how many different kinds of decks there were. I figured there were, like, two or three, and you just picked one. But I was so wrong! There are hundreds, and more are being created all the time.

I also assumed that the meaning for each card, (The Sun, The Moon) was exactly the same in each deck, and that 'interpretations' of said cards would also be the same. Actually, the meanings are very similar of course, but each deck has subtle differences that sets it apart from any other, and that the interpretations will vary from person to person --- people are encouraged to rely on their intuition, not on standard definitions of what the cards supposedly mean.

I also learned the largest misconception about Tarot (that I myself was guilty of): that people who practice Tarot believe the cards tell the future, and that whatever they ';predict' is absolute.

SO NOT TRUE. The entire crux of Tarot is that the truth and meaning that comes out of a reading is really from the one practicing Tarot, not from the cards themselves, and that the future can always be changed. When you practice Tarot, the cards are not commanding you or telling you the future. You put your own energy into the deck, and whatever meaning you pull from the cards is powerful, relevant, and something that you need to know at the time. Whether you listen to your own instincts is up to you.

I'm not sure I explained it very well, but... I was a total non-believer. I thought anyone who did Tarot was a scam-artist, or that if they truly believed it, it was the result of simple psychology if any ';predictions' came true.

But after really learning about it, I find it fascinating and I'm very grateful to my step-mom for being in my life, and showing more about something I didn't understand. I love you Paula! (I doubt she'll ever read this, but I needed to say it anyway!)

Huh... well... I wasn't trying to write an essay about Tarot... ah, well.

I did a crap-load of research for this deck. I have a lot to say about all the symbolism in this card, and the theme for the whole deck, but I guess I'll save that for next time. ^^;

I really like this one--I really like card designs. It makes for really good practice I think because you have to fit all of that into a small picture. It's like a summary presentation--the tip of the iceburg implying what we don't see under water level.

Really fantastic job! Keep up the good work!
