Welcome to my Journal of Doom!
The piece I'd like to bring to your attention today is Synthetic Happiness
There are so very many things about this piece that I love.
Visually, it's simple, subtle, and alluring. The composition is great and the colors and lighting is beautiful. It makes you calm, until you look closer into the theme of the piece.
At first glance, and with the title in your head, you might think she has an I.V. of synthetic happiness because she's sad. But maybe, that's not the case. Maybe she's sad because
she's being forced to take synthetic happiness, instead of being allowed to find real happiness of her own.
I think that it makes a profound statement about the world we live in and how we live our lives. We are constantly confronted with the idea that we can fulfill ourselves with material possessions and entertainment. And those things do have a place in our life, but they shouldn't take
the place of the real things, the important things, that can bring us real happiness.
And It's not just about personal choices, but the expectations of the people around us as well that affect our what we do with our lives. Only when we realize how much we are affected by these expectations can we break away from them and find our own place in the world.
There's no way I would ever claim to know what ~mou-s
meant to say with this amazing work of art. But I commend her none-the-less for a piece that really touched my heart, made me think about things I might not have thought about, and had me sitting and staring for a long time.
