:star: Welcome to my journal! :star:

Yup.

Uhm... yeah.

So I guess I could summarize things for those who are interested.

:star:RECAP:star:

I was in Asheville NC visiting my mom. I was apprehensive about it at first because we've been having some issues lately, but it went really well and I actually had fun. I feel like we had a lot of really good conversations and I got to say a lot of things that I needed to say.

I think she would have preferred if we could have been "done" with all that, but I know that as we both grow there are going to continue to be things that we need to work out. But as it stands I feel like we're both in a better place when it comes to our relationship.

She still has a lot of her own stuff that I think she's avoiding addressing, but it's not really my place to point that stuff out. :/ Part of my problem was feeling like it was my job to make sure she kept growing along with me, but the truth is that it's not. So it still makes me sad when I see those thing affecting her life negatively, but unlike before I recognize the difference between that and me feeling responsible over that part of her life.

:bulletred:ART:bulletred:

We had lots of fun. She took me around Asheville and we looked at a whole bunch of art galleries. :3 There were only a few artists that I was really impressed with, but mostly I just enjoyed the experience, the practice of talking in all the different styles and even getting to see the way different galleries set themselves up!

I think my new dream is to start a gallery of my own. That's kind of a long ways away though. X3 I might want to see if I can get INTO a gallery before trying to OWN one.

One thing that struck me was the lack of variation in subject matter and style... and I kind of feel that way about the "art world" in general. They say that in order to stand out as an artist you have to be original, but in reality most people (who end up being recognized, at least) are all doin' the same thing, and/or being different just for the sake of being different without any real value to the art that's being produced. Or it could have just been Asheville. LMAO Now I want to see art galleries all over the world!!!

I guess that's one of the reason why I like deviantART. There's such a rich diversity here! If you know where to look, that is. X3 Maybe the RL art world is the same way, I don't know. X3

:bulletpink:MOVIES:bulletpink:

I got to watch lots of movies. :3 Except Sherlock Holmes. o____O I saw the first 20 minutes of that movie THREE TIMES, but never saw the end. First, mom had to keep pausing it because she had errands to run, so we put it off. THEN, we started watching it but a whole bunch of people came over and proceeded to stand in the middle of the living room (where the TV is) and talk, LOUDLY, despite the fact that there were OODLES of other places in the house they could have congregated. Then the final attempt the DVD player spontaneously ceased to function. Incidentally, so did the other DVD player in the house. And a flashlight turned on for no reason in my mother's car. o_O

Ponyo was really cute. It was a bit anticlimactic though, and a bit fluffier than I was expecting. I wasn't all that impressed with The Princess and the Frog :/ I mean, visually it was great, but I felt like the music was empty and the story fell flat.

I won't even go into The Last Airbender. If you've seen it, then you know. If you haven't, please spare yourself the agony and just watch the first season of the series instead.

However, if you're in the mood for some LULZ, here's an awesome review that *kaikaku showed me.

And for the love of God please don't come back to me and say, "But he wasn't trying to make a comedy it's just really bad! D8" IT'S CALLED SATIRE. Look up the definition of that word it you're confused.

I got to see both Toy Story 3 and Eclipse with *Nessarie and we had LOTS of fun. :3 Toy Story was pwnsome (it made me cry OMG LMAO) and Twilight was appropriately ridiculous. I kept laughing when it would get all dramatic and Vanessa was like, "Why are you laughing? This is dramatic! D8" and I was like, "Exactly. *guffaw*"

:bulletyellow:VIDEO GAMES:bulletyellow:

On a completely unrelated side note, I've been playing Ocarina of Time Master Quest and first of all *gushes* Zelda is awesome and all that and it's really nostalgic because I haven't played that game since I was nine and I still needed my Dad to help me beat the dungeons and stuff. X3 But secondly that crap is hard!!! D8 It's Master Quest so even IF I actually REMEMBERED any of it it wouldn't do me any good. ;w; I feel like such a failure I have to cheat every five seconds. X3 And the graphics are so bad! I keep LOLing at the cut scenes. X3

BUT OMG I LAUGHED SO HARD LMAO There's this one character, the creepy fellow who buys poe souls in the room with all the pots at the beginning of Castle Town (in the future, when everything is in ruins you know) and I'm reading his dialogue and I'm like, "Oh yeah creepy dude whatever" and then he says something like, "You've got quite a pretty face, heh heh, if I had a face like that I'd be running an entirely different business, heh heh heh heh!!!" and it took me second but then I was like, "OMG HE JUST MADE SEX JOKE BUT THIS IS A KIDS GAME OMG" before descending into a fit of hysterical laughter.

:bulletpurple:TV:bulletpurple:

UUUUUHHHHHHMMMM BTW when did it become okay to say "sexy" in kids television? D8 They said it in Adventure Time (awesome show btw I haven't seen much of it but I like what I've seen) and iCarly too, I think. Like, seriously? owO As uptight as people are and as freaky as the censors can be, REALLY? WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?

:bulletblack:END:bulletblack:

Anyway, so, yeah, I suppose that's all the important stuff (and the not-so-important as well LMAO). If you read this whole thing you get a cookie. :3

ARE YOU MAKING FUN OF MY TWI-LOVE?! ;) That's okay - there were parts that WERE rather... overdramatic, I guess. I still loved it, lol.

I was biting my tongue during the last 15 minutes of TS3, because I thought you would make fun of me if you knew I was about to have a sob fest, lol. Gma was crying too.

DAMMIT PIXAR, WHY MUST YOU MAKE SUCH EMOTIONALLY STIRRING MOVIES?! :happycry:

I MISS YOU! :tighthug: And I still have your stuff... lol. I'll have to send it to you. ;)

Very cool. Glad you are back and had a productive trip. I agree with you about the art world. Very rarely do I find galleries that carry work that I think is truly remarkable.

Thanks!

Yeah, it's very strange to me, the art world. There are all these super fabuous artists on dA (and granted sometimes you have to wade through a lot of crap to get to the good stuff, but once you get the hang of it it's not that hard to find!) and it's kind of like the art critics and galleries are out of touch with the real art!

Agreed. The real art world does not take change well, it is very slow to pull it in. But boy, when it does find a good one some times they are marvels.
