Oh. My. God.
I had no idea such an awesome person existed. I love love love the music he plays, not only because they are familiar songs that were awesome to begin with, but because he is an AMAZING composer, his arrangements are so beautiful, and he's such a good musician!!! I don't think I'll ever be able to play that well, the way I practice now (which is basically not at all since I don't have a piano) *sobs*
It's painful, really, not having a piano. My church is nice enough to let me play the one they have there, but it's not the same as having one in your house that you can play anytime you want. It's kind of weird, when I do play it's not like I've gone backwards---I mean, sure, I've forgotten a lot of songs I used to know how to play, and my fingers are all like, "WTF is this you want me to do what now?" but it's not like I have degenerated into no longer knowing how to play, I just have to take the time to relearn the songs; and I just haven't gotten any better. X3
That's what's hard, I guess. If you practice hard, long, and often, you'll see an improvement, no matter how small, even if you have no talent at all; and that small (or large!!!) bit of improvement is so gratifying! To be able to look at yourself and say, "I wasn't able to do that before, but now I can!" is such an amazing thing. But when every time you play it's exactly the same, never any better, over the course of a year? 2 years? 3? That just breaks me. Especially when I see someone like Michael Guck (Piano Squall) and it inspires me so I want to jump right up and start playing... but can't.
But anyway. Previously mentioned musician Piano Squall (his stage name), in case you didn't know, plays anime and video game music on the piano. He gives concerts and has an album out, and all the proceeds go to charity. How frikkin' awesome is that? Makes me feel like actually doing something with my life. HA. *is shot*
